Hi Thorkell,

ImageX has never been part of WinPE but can be added (just copy the file), this also works in WinPE 4.0.

However, a new version of DISM is included in WinPE 4.0, and can now do /Apply-Image, so you don't need to add imagex (other than for backwards compatibility with scripts etc.).

Hi Johan

I was watching the video from your presentation in Oslo Creating Custom WinPE 4.0 boot images , later this year. In the video you mentioned that, when you were showing how to create a plug-in into "driver" that the demo script that you used will be available on your blog. I have however search on your blog for this scripts, but not able to find it. Is it possible that these scripts will be available?

Is that correct, that ImageX will not be longer used in WinPE 4?

Best regards
Thorkell

It's a mess.
MDT, SCCM, AIK and WinPE in different incompatible versions. As if it was 4 different companies…
Not very professional in my oppinion 🙂

THX for answering.

That's true… I Don't use the recovery wizard much… The story will be better with MDT 2012 Update 1 and SCCM 2012 SP1…

Hi Johan (back from sickleave)

Well but then the recovery Wizzard does not work. Only supports Win7 RTM, not SP1.

Hi Thomas,

I don't use the WAIK update, I stick with WinPE 3.0 and DaRT works with that one… It's just a cab file that gets extracted into the boot image when you update the deployment share.

Hi Johan We have a DaRT problem and it must be very common..(I'm a bit surprised you do not mention it on the event and I really hope you have a better answer than MS – they have None 😉 The problem is basically that: With WAIK 7.1 update "installed" you cannot persuade MDT2010/2012 to use the boot.wims from Windows 7 (described here): blogs.technet.com/b/mniehaus/archive/2011/03/12/issue-with-mdt-2010-update-1-and-windows-aik-for-windows-7-sp1-supplement.aspx Hence you never get the menu point, saying "Run the recovery Wizzard", that you need to detect the operating system.. So Either we use WAIK 7.0 and a stoneage Win7 RTM or it is NoGo? Is… Read more »
