Ment van der Plas, a ConfigMgr consultant in the Netherlands were kind to provide an extension to the ConfigMgr 2012 Beta 2 Hydration Kit published in May, 2011.
In his own wording:
I took the liberty to improve and extend your excellent hydration kit.
Find attached the result. Please have a look and let me know if you find it useful.
I've added the "Configure – Firewall for SQL Communication" task to the ConfigMgr 2012 server at the end of the [Install SQL Server 2008 x64] section. What this task basically does is add an inbound firewall exception rule to open port TCP 1433 and 4022 for SQL (through netsh command). If you don't do this (even in a single site environment) the SMS_HIERARCHY_MANAGER starts erroring that the firewall isn't opened for SQL. If you have a multitier environment it's a necessity for the replication between sites (now through SQL replication) can't occur.
What I also did was add two (different) virtual machines (CM02 and CM03) both in the "4_CreateVirtualMachines.ps1" script as well as in the "CustomSettings.ini". These machine will install unattended as a Central Administration Site (CM02) and a Primary Site (CM03) through the task sequences I've added.
Note: don't run CM01 in your environment if you want to create a hierarchy! Unlike SCCM2007 hierarchies can only be created at install time. That's why I thought it might be useful for the hydration kit. CM03 replaces the functionality of the CM01 in a hierarchy.
